Unused resources – unsolved tasks. How do young people get involved? How do young people get involved?
This month's volunteer forum is about how young people can get involved in voluntary work.
During the forum held on 25 April, Steinar Krokstad, Professor of Social Medicine, HUNT research center, NTNU and Psychiatrist, Levanger Hospital asked a question:
"Young people's health and future under pressure. What can volunteer
engagement mean to young people today?”
He presented some of the current issues and trends in mental health especially among young people and its effect in our society. The participants were encouraged to discuss in groups about the problem and how they can help and be part of the solution.
Krokstad also presented about the Hodebra campaign, which is about promoting quality of life and good mental health for the entire population of Trøndelag.
It also encourages everyone to use the ABC concept which stands for act (do something active), belong (do something together), and commit (do something meaningful).
The forum took place at Fellesverket Trondheim. It is a great meeting place initiated by the Red Cross, where everyone between the ages of 13 and 25 can participate in various activities for free, learn and experience a community where they can feel at home.
All voluntary organizations can make a difference, and together we can do something for others and for ourselves.
